WOYWW

No photo today, because I'm away from home. I did, in fact, do a little crafting in that I coloured in some images I'd stamped before I came away, but as I'm not at home I can't get any pictures on the computer - so, not photo.

I'm in London looking after my nieces, that is to say Lilly is looking after her cousins. She's getting paid for it but as she's only sixteen and they are 4 and 2 years old I really need to be here to oversee. It's been hard work, not least because Anna and Lilly have had a 24 hour stomach flu bug. So as well as looking after the babies, I've been looking after a very sick daughter.

Because Lilly had all the symptoms of swine flu I contacted the pandemic help line and filled in their on line questionnaire. I was very surprised when they said she "probably" had swine flu and should start a course of Tamiflu. After spending a few minutes panicking because I'm away from home and looking after someone else's children I pulled myself together and managed to arrange a local collection of the drugs. Well, the outcome was somewhat better than expected, when 24 hours later her temperature had come down, she'd stopped vomiting and was feeling bright enough to go clothes shopping - thank goodness.

I'm still amazed at how easily she was prescribed Tamiflu without seeing a doctor for a proper diagnosis. I was very honest when filling out the questionnaire as, as an ex-nurse and a responsible mother I don't want to give my baby drugs she doesn't need, but it would be so easy for anyone to fill in that questionnaire with the correct answers and get a prescription. I think that's quite irresponsible of the NHS to have that system. Rant over.

This is a sad sight. A desk with nothing going on. :-(

Today at my desk.

Two momentous things happened today in my craft room. First I tidied my desk! Isn't it nice to have somewhere to work?

The second thing to happen was that I made some Christmas cards - before the 12th December! I bought a lovely little stamp from the craft fair I went to last weekend. It was lovely to use and I can imagine it will be well used by the 12th December.. Here are two of the cards I made. I did six, but they're all very similar and my photo of them all was not very good.

I then put together some more cards using images I've been working on for a couple of weeks.

So, all in all, I'm made 15 cards today. I'm very proud of myself.
Now I'm going to cook dinner.

WOYWW - What's On Your Workdesk Wednesday

Eek! I forgot to post yesterday. This is what was on my desk yesterday. I printed out these images using some new stamps I bought at the craft show in Newbury on Sunday. They're lovely and were a joy to colour in. My desk has in fact moved on a little, but the images have not yet made it onto cards. I will show you them when I've finished.

"what is your leap off point? Is it an image, a photo or the paper?"

Hmm, my good friend Julia asked this question here http://stamping-ground.blogspot.com/

It's definitely the photo that sets me off on my scrapbooking. My photos have to be the main point of interest, I don't like layouts where I have to "look" for the photo. What's the point of that? Don't get me wrong, I love embellishments of all kinds. I have loads and loads and loads of buttons, ribbons, buckles, brads, etc, but they stay neatly in their storage boxes. I may be a boring scrapper, but I'm the one looking at my pages, so I may as well do what I like.

This is layout I did recently. When you have a daughter a beautiful as this, why hide her in a mountain of "stuff"?

Thank you Julia for asking the question, but I suppose you already knew what my answer would be.

WOYWW

Some construction going on today.
These projects have been ongoing for a few days now. John took the laptop away with him last week and I had nothing to keep me awake while watching TV so I stamped some images and coloured them in with my lovely new pens. Over the week I've been assembling various card with the images. I've still a few to do, hence the images on my desk. However, here are a few I've already put together.
I don't know why the image is lop sided on this one, it's not on the card!

Looking forward to checking out everyone else's desk.
